    Airplane Instrument Rating (IR) Certification Course:

    A person who applies for an airplane instrument rating must have received and logged ground training from an authorized instructor or accomplished a home-study course on the following aeronautical knowledge areas that apply to the instrument rating sought:

    To be eligible for a Airplane Instrument Rating (IR) Certification Course, a person must:

    1. Applicants must complete the Private Pilot course before they can begin the Airplane Instrument Rating (IR) Certification Course.
    2.Hold Private Pilot License.
    3.Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language.
    4.Receive and log ground training from an authorized instructor or accomplish a home-study;
    5.Receive a logbook or training record endorsement from an authorized instructor;
    6.Receive and log training on the areas of operation of paragraph (c) of this section from an authorized instructor in an aircraft, flight simulator, or flight training device that represents an airplane, helicopter, or powered-lift appropriate to the instrument rating sought;
    7.Hold a current Medical Certificate Class II, as laid down in ICAO Annex 1.
    8.Demonstrate through written tests, flight tests, and appropriate records that he has the knowledge, skill and experience to exercise the privileges of a private pilot safely

    Flight training consists of two main components – ground school and flight instruction – and Long Airside Flight Training will provide the strong foundational knowledge and skills you need. In ground school, students learn information that all pilots need to know, such as basic Airplane Instrument Rating (IR);

    Standardization of pilot training within the Long Airside Flight Training of Professional Aviation is achieved by the use of the Airplane Instrument Rating (IR) Certification Training Course Outlines (TCOs).

    This TCO outlines the training required by Part 14 CFR 61 or 141 to achieve the proficiency specified in the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS). Is prescribes the course content, instructions to conduct the training, and the approximate time necessary to successfully complete all requirements.

    Long Airside Flight Training, each TCO is divided into a Ground Training Syllabus and a Flight Training Syllabus. Ground training lesson times will be divided as appropriate to fit a normal college class schedule. Flight times indicated in the Flight Training Syllabus are planned times. Individual lesson times may be reduced or increased, times will be, at minimum, those specified in Part 14 CFR 61 or 141.
